"Michael Skurtun of Healdsburg Nursery offers everything for the gardener in plant material and accessories. Ask him what he specializes in, and he's quick to reply. "good, old-fashioned service and courtesy."
Healdsburg Nursery opened its doors to the public in the summer of 1991. Although it was built from scratch that year, it looks as if it's always been there. Michael and a couple of friends designed and built the nursery with that old look in mind. The nursery office and gift shop were designed to look like an old farmhouse, the shade house designed to simulate the shape of a barn. Michael's background as a landscape contractor came in handy - he says building the nursery was like a big landscaping project.
The result is a beautifully arranged nursery, inviting to gardeners. When you arrive, you will see the impressive shade house right away and want to go see what's inside. You will find well-tended shade plants like daphne, rhododendrons, azaleas, ferns, and many other plants of interest. All about the nursery you will find delightful statuary and fountains tucked in and around a broad selection of plants - little stone mushrooms, a fountain bowl holding an otter on his back, a young girl holding a basket of flowers, and many others. There are stone table and bench sets and garden furniture made from wood.
Be sure to visit the gift shop and browse among the water color paintings and sketches, books, pottery, and other garden-related items.
Horticulturists on the nursery staff are available to help with any gardening questions. The nursery offers free consultation service and free delivery in the area."
